Accidental Alphabet

The accidental alphabet task was one that taught observance as well as lateral thinking. As a graphic design student it's important to learn and develop both skills to progress creatively.

We were told to look around an area of the college to find letters of the alphabet in different objects - whether they be an object that resembles a certain letter or whether we find the letters within negative space.

With the letters collected, I used them to spell out the word 'Money'. The task was to try to photograph the whole alphabet and spell the words 'Graphic Design' however, due to limited time we were only able to photograph a handful.

I feel that this task definitely forced me to look at things differently because as well as looking into the details of everyday objects around me, I found that I also had to look at the bigger picture to identify letters in places I normally wouldn't.
